East Nimba Nature Reserve benefits from training in the use of the IMET tool, as well as the evaluation of its management effectiveness

8 August 2022

As part of the implementation of the European Union-funded Nimba Mountains PAPFor project, a training in the use of the Integrated Management Effectiveness Tool (IMET) was organized from August 2 to 8, 2022 by UNOPS, in Sanniquellie, Nimba County, Republic of Liberia. A total of 15 people involved in the governance of East Nimba Nature Reserve benefited from this training.

The main objective was to train ENNR managers and administrators, as well as their partners, in the use of the off-line Integrated Management Effectiveness Tool (IMET) form to improve management effectiveness and decision making in protected areas. Note that this training was coupled with the evaluation of the management effectiveness of this reserve conducted by members of the Co-Management Committee composed of FDA conservators and community representatives.

On this occasion, desktop computers and other working devices such as cell phones, GPS and camera traps were given to the partners to facilitate data collection during patrols.
